The Wits 2016 internal rugby league was launched on Wednesday, with the first five matches to be played next week
The new Steinhoff interfaculty season resumed on Wednesday evening at the Wits rugby stadium when Wits Sport and sponsors launched the league with ten teams participating this year.
In attendance was a Wits Sport representative, Michael Dick and Steinhoff’s Marketing and Brand Manager, Ajee Valentine. Ajee Valentine from Steinhoff started his speech by congratulating the Wits first team on their promotion to the 2017 Varsity Cup league.
The Steinhoff Medics won the league in the previous season and will be hoping to defend the title. The team that wins the final at the end of the season will go on to compete in the Steinhoff Koshuis Championships in 2017 to play against other university teams such as UFS’ Shimlas and the Maties from Stellenbosch
The new kits were handed out and Coach Ntsikelelo “Amigo” Ngcakane announced the first round of fixtures which will kick off next week.
