The twenty-three year old said he has been able to finance his education with the money he gets from stripping.
Student by day and professional stripper by night, 23-year-old Phemelo Medupe sat down to chat to Wits Vuvuzela about how he ventured into his exotic dancing hobby. The second year aeronautical engineering student won the title of Mr Norvic in a South Point pageant late last month and also used his “talents” to win the hearts, I mean screams, of the crowd. “At one point I couldn’t hear in one of my ears” he tells Wits Vuvuvzela.
Growing in a Christian home in the North West province, Medupe never thought he would ever find himself dancing on a stripper pole in a Sandton club on Wednesday and Saturday nights. Before he started his new found hobby, the engineering student said he once visited a strip club in September 2013 with some of his friends. During one dance show, he was seduced by a female dancer. He danced with her and ended up stealing the show. A manager saw him dancing and asked him if he would be interested in being a stripper. “She said, ‘I’ve got a show for you, its 30 minutes and they are paying R2 500 for it’. I was like ‘what?!’ and then I did the show and it was so crazy,” Medupe said. And then the rest is history.
He has performed on various stages including at the Sexpo convention, and in Sun City in front of an audience with over 500 people. The 23-year-old said he enjoys what he does and has been able to finance his education and help his family through stripping. “One thing every guy wishes is to hear many girls screaming for him and I guess I am living that dream,” he said.
