Elderly Ligwa Zantsi travelled all the way from the small Eastern Cape town of Ezinyoka to see two of his granddaughters graduate this week at Wits.
Wits Vuvuzela found Zantsi hunched over–a sign of his years–on a chair at the Great Hall, waiting to see his granddaughter Amandla graduate with her B. Com Accounting degree.
Zantsi was proud of his family’s academic accomplishments, particularly since he had to drop out of school after standard four, now grade six, to take a job caring for various livestock.
